Born in Oglethorpe County, to John Frank and Maude Chandler. He grew up in Madison County in the rural community of Colbert. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in school. But spent most of his early years working on the farm to support his Mother and siblings after his father passed when Bobby was 14 years old. He married Miriam Williamson on June 12, 1954, and enjoyed 70 years of true love. He worked for the Seaboard Railroad 10 years until they wanted to promote him and move him away from home. He then worked at Farmer’s Hardware Company and was a tile mason before turning to his favorite work, full-time farming. He and Miriam raised hogs and vegetables with their four children, Deborah Marie, Pamela Kay, Morgan (Bud) and Tony Chandler.
He was preceded in death by both parents, daughter Debbie and grandson Kurt Seay; siblings Lula Chandler, Lucy Baker, J.B. Chandler, M.E. Cleghorne, Ralph and Sue Chandler, Carolyn and Compton Whitworth, Billy F. and Beverly Chandler, Peggy and Joe Seay.
He leaves behind his loving and dedicated family Miriam, Debbie’s husband Lanier Seay, Pam and Ted Fowler, Morgan and Alisa, and Tony Chandler. Nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two great great-grandchildren.
He and Miriam lived a simple life with no fanfare and as such they made arrangements years before his passing to have no memorial service.
