James Harvey Brooks, 71, of Athens, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015. James was a native of Oglethorpe County, born to the late Richard Marion Brooks Sr. and Jennie Mae Cartledge Brooks. James is survived by sons, Gregory Glenn Brooks and Timothy James Brooks, siblings Richard Marion Brooks Jr (Phyllis), Dolph Richardson Brooks, Grace Widner Oswalt (Jerry), Geraldine Brooks McElreath (Jerry), Gerald Richard Brooks (Diane), and David Wayne Brooks, grandson, Gregory Glenn Brooks Jr., sister-in-law Janelle Brooks, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Friday, July 3, at Colbert Cemetery at 4:30 P.M.
