Watkinsville, GA - James O. D. Barber, 71, died February 16, 2009.
A native of Oconee County, he was a son of the late James C. and Gladys Tanksley Barber, and the widower of Betty Jean Coker Barber. Mr. Barber was employed with Pete Crowe Construction Company for over twenty years and Christian Properties for over ten years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Oconee Chapel with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Survivors include three children, Shirley Cook, Diane Booth, both of Athens, and Travis Barber of Watkinsville; brother, Marvin Barber of Bishop; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Barber, Mark Barber, Stacy Barber, Toby Coleman, Ricky Bruce and Steve Bradshaw.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
