James (marty) Ballard

Watkinsville - James "Marty" Ballard, 48, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Athens Regional
Medical Centers.
Born in Kershaw, SC, he was the son of Charles Samuel Ballard and Margie
Robinson Ballard. He was an
Offensive Lineman for the University of Georgia, 1980 National Championship
Football Team. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and had recently began
working for Power House Custom Homes.
Survivors include his wife: Cathy Hagood Ballard; children: Liz Ballard of
Watkinsville, Samuel Ballard of Watkinsville; stepsons: Tracey Hagood, Eric
Hagood and Justin Hagood all of Watkinsville: sister; Karen Ballard of Akron,
OH; brothers: Steve and Tim Ballard of South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Lord &
Stephens West Chapel with Revs. Vince Mercardante and Ed Strickland
officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Oconee Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made the charity of ones choice.
