James M. Anderson

August 27, 1938 — July 6, 2022

Former Pennsylvania State Golf Champion Jim Anderson, 83, passed away July 6, 2022.

James M. Anderson, from Murrysville, PA, and Avon Park, FL, took his last breaths while in the arms of his wife of 62 years (Priscilla R. Anderson) and daughter (Erika A. Schmidt- Freiberger). Son-in-law, Dana L. Freiberger, was also present when Jim’s body gave into multi-organ failure. The family was together at home and grateful for the peaceful passing.

Preceding Jim’s passing were his son Reed and infant daughter Sherri Lynn. In addition, Jim’s parents Elmer and Marguerite Anderson, and both siblings, Don (Ruby), and Shirley, all of Murrysville, and John G. Schmidt IV (son-in-law) of Altoona, Pa.

Left to continue Jim’s love of life are his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and Grandchildren, Kyle (Haley) and Conner Freiberger. Julienne and Angelina Anderson and Great Grandson, Fletcher Freiberger.

Jim’s larger-than-life presence, infectious smile, generosity, and love of people caused others to embrace their own stories. His lessons 1) always leave them smiling, 2) look beyond the hood ornament while going down the road of life, guided his happy existence, and left us all the better for knowing him.

Jim was a graduate of Franklin Regional Highschool and Slippery Rock University. He taught at Penn Hills during his teaching career. He was a Golf coach and mentor to many. His success in golf allowed for travel and various titles and awards. His success as a husband, father, and friend earned him lasting love and admiration.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, GA is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
