Athens - James "Smitty" Smith, 82, died May 1, 2011.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Charlie Albert and Annie Mae Silvey Smith and father to the late David Sorrow.
Survivors include a long time companion, Lillie Sorrow, sons, Timothy Sorrow and Scott Sorrow, daughters, Shannon Bryant and Sylvia Morrow, sister, Frances Wilson, grandchildren, Misty Bradford, Jessica Haley, Amber and Brianna Bryant, Sierra, Jarrett, Justin and David Gene Sorrow.
A memorial service will be held at the residence of his brother, Tim Sorrow, Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 1PM.
Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
