Crawford - Jake Wesley (Buddy) Griffith, age 68, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 2PM at Lexington Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Waller and Rev. Kenneth Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Glenn, Bobby Glenn, Terry Glenn, Jeff Glenn, Les Seasholtz and George England. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Over The Hill Gang of American Legion Post 123.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Buddy was the son of the late James Wesley Griffith and Pauline Carter Aycock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Anthony Griffith. He retired from the Naval Supply Corp School after a number of years as a plumber and pipefitter. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was the Senior Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 123.
Survivors include his wife Gloria Glenn Griffith of the home, daughter, Tammy (Darrel) Griffith Wilson of Danielsville, sisters, Claudette Aycock of Cornelia, GA, Jane Foster of Crawford, step brothers, Melvin Aycock, George Aycock, step sister, Mazelle Mauldin, step mother, Louise Griffith, grandchildren, Justin Griffith, Johnny Wilson and Allison Wilson.
Flowers will be accepted.
Lord & Stephens, Oglethorpe is in charge of arrangements.
