Jacquetta (Jacki) Bernice Cullens of Athens, GA died Thursday, October 14, 2010, in Plano, TX.
Jacki was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL January 4, 1942, to Capt. Jake and Martha Stone. She graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1960 and attended the University of Georgia where she met her husband of forty-eight years, John Cullens.
Jacki spent the majority of her life in the Athens/Watkinsville area. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Athens. She retired from the Athens Clarke County Sheriff's in 2004. She was an active member of the Athens Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held many offices including Worthy Matron. She was also involved with the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America. Jacki was an avid sports fan; she and her husband frequented University of Georgia athletic events routinely. Her favorites included baseball, football and gymnastics.
Jacki is survived by her husband, John, her sons Jake and John Jr., wife Tracy and her five granddaughters Shelbi, Darcy, Sara, Katy and Ashley; her siblings and their spouses Capt. Robert and Dorinda Stone, Phyllis Muth, Ellen and Tom Frank, and Frances and John Willis.
The viewing will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Lord and Stephens East, 4355 Lexington Rd Athens, GA. The funeral service will be Monday, October 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Lord and Stephens East with interment to follow at Oconee Memorial Park Cemetery, 2370 Hog Mountain Rd Watkinsville, GA. The funeral officiant will be Dr. Glenn Doak from the 1st Presbyterian Church of Athens. The family will receive visitors at their home Monday after all services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital of Atlanta, GA or the Shriner's Hospital of Greenville, SC.
