Jackie Fitts Thompson

Jackie Fitts Thompson, 83, of Danielsville passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Born September 29, 1930 in Biltmore Village, North Carolina, she was a lifelong resident of Madison and Clarke Counties and was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood B. Thompson, her parents, William and Ethel Fitts, brothers Frank, Felton and Ferris Fitts and sister Georgia Fitts Beatenbo. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a strong love for the Lord. She was a member of Hull Baptist Church and also attended Shiloh Baptist Church. She is survived by two children: Regina Thompson Boswell (Chris) of Danielsville and Rena Thompson Abernethy (Lou) of Woodbridge, VA, five grandchildren: Corey Boswell (Kimberly), Chad Boswell (Ariel), Megan Boswell, Beth Blackmer (Josh), and Robin Kiku (Josh) and four great grandchildren: Brooke Boswell, Paisley Mae Boswell, Nicole Lippy and Anatasia Kiku. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Jimmie Fitts Hallford, Libbie Hix Fitts, Bobbie Fitts Tyner, Johnnie Fitts Beatenbo, Fred Fitts (Betty), Patricia Fitts Little, Tommie Fitts Holloway (Junior) and Furman Fitts (Sally) and several nieces and nephews. Jackie was a homemaker for many years raising Rena and Regina by herself because Durwood passed at such an early age. She later worked at the University of Georgia in Graduate Admissions until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was devoted to her grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe and Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Lee Boswell, Don Hayes, Mike Little, Kevin Sexton, Gabe Martin and Jesse Compton. Lord and Stephens, Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
