Bernard John Patrick Rounds, 75, died May 6, 2006.
Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Kenneth Raymond and Catherine Veronica Ferguson Rounds.
Mr. Rounds was a retired US Air Force Major with 22 years of service. Mr. Rounds was a navigator with the Strategic Air Command. He served in the Korean War and completed two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Near the end of his career he was selected to be part of the flight crew that escorted Bob Hope, Neil Armstrong and other cast members of the "1969 Bob Hope Christmas with the Troops World Tour" to various bases in Southeast Asia. Following his retirement, he attended the University of Hawaii, where he graduated at the top of his class with a degree in accounting. Mr. Rounds relocated to Athens, GA where he graduated from The University of Georgia School of Law (Class of 1976) and practiced law until 2005. During this time he also taught business law at Georgia Southern. Mr. Rounds was an avid Bulldog fan.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Walton Rounds; 2 daughters, Susan Patricia Rounds Sorrow of Duluth and Linda Eileen Rounds of Watkinsville; 2 brothers, Kenneth Raymond Rounds of Pawtucket, RI and Ronald Francis Rounds of Tucson, AZ; 2 granddaughters, Shannon Patricia Hester (Greg) of Duluth and Erin Eileen Sorrow of Vinings; great-grandson, Patrick Jackson Hester; several nieces and nephews, and many beloved pets.
Mass will be said Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 11:00a.m.at The University of Georgia Catholic Center.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
