Watkinsville GA / Melrose MT - Jack Edward Lewis, age 54, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007. A native of DeKalb County Georgia, Mr. Lewis was the son of the late James A. and Hazel B. Lewis.
He was a Mason, an army veteran, and a skilled gunsmith. He was highly valued for his skills as a machinist at the Dye Sheet Metal Company in Athens. He is distinguished as the only "Honorary Member for Life" in the City Heat Motorcycle Club (CHMC) of Chicago IL. He had an extraordinary love for outdoor living, and a deep respect for the land. He could hunt, fish and trap with the best of them. He recently completed work on his retirement home in Montana. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend. All who knew him will forever remember his passion for living life "big".
Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Jennifer "Turk" Lewis and his 17 year old son, George Luther "Luke" Lewis of Watkinsville, GA, brothers Tom Lewis of Charlotte, N.C. and Ted Lewis of Lawrenceville, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Lewis of Decatur.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Saxon Road Church in Watkinsville with David Gattie officiating. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to Saye Farms for a celebration honoring Jack's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the "Jack Lewis Memorial Fund" c/o Jennifer Lewis at Athens First Bank and Trust.
