James W. (J.W.) Wade, 73, died August 22, 2006.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of Ruby Healan Wade of Athens and the late Willie Thomas Wade and preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Carroll Wade.
Mr. Wade was a U. S. Army and Navy veteran. He served following the Korean Conflict and aboard the USS Independence Aircraft Carrier during Vietnam. Mr. Wade was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the 70 and up Sunday School Class.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Henrietta Whitworth Wade; stepchildren, Katrina an Dennis Christian of Hull, Ken and Tammy Bryant of Hull, Phyllis and Tim Thompson of Hull and Alex Ledford of Athens; sister, Carolyn Cooper (Wesley) of Athens; 2 brothers, Kenneth Wade (Myra) of Douglasville and Jerry Wade (Ellen) of Gainesville; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 25, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST. Revs. Fred Rowell, Jerry Horton and Randy Thomas will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 70 and Up Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church Building Fund.
