Athens - J.W. Hembree, 74, died April 13, 2006.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Felton and Susie Meadow Hembree. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Hembree, brother, Bill Hembree and grandson, Jonathan Hembree. Mr. Hembree was retired from Thomas Textile and a member of Whitehall Baptist Church.
Services will be Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Revs. Buford Lockman and Elmer Butler officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rusty Hembree, Mike Hembree, Zack Hembree, Josh Hembree and nephews, Scott Hembree and Dennis Bradberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Cook, Ricky Wills, Wayne Hewell and Rev. Darry Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Hembree; sons, Jimmy (Debbie) Hembree of Winterville and Randy Hembree of Athens; sisters, Iree (Hubert) Logan of Athens and Mary Ruth (Sonny) Stancell of Winterville; sister in law, Jackie Hembree; brother in law, Troy Bradberry; 5 grandsons, including Justin Hembree; 1 great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
