Isabel Leggatt Barnes, 86, formerly of Athens, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
Isabel was born in Youngstown, Ohio and lived in Sharon, Pennsylvania until 1969. Isabel worked at the University of Georgia from 1973-1989 in the College of Business as a secretary. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Georgia. Her husband, William T. Barnes, Jr. preceded her in death April 6, 1998.
She is survived by her son Gary A. Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter Gail Barnes Miles of Lawrenceville, GA, and her son Todd L. Barnes of Atlanta, GA., six granddaughters; Whitney Barnes of Atlanta, Ashley Miles and Meredith Miles of Lawrenceville, Haley, Erin, and Caroline Barnes of Atlanta; and one grandson, Matthew Barnes of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her brother, William W. Leggatt of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Graham E. Leggatt of Largo, Florida died February 2008 and her brother, Thomas Leggatt died in 1942.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1:00pm at First Presbyterian Church of Athens, 185 E. Hancock Avenue, Athens, GA, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
