Athens - Isaac Eugene Thompson, 76, husband of Edith "Scottie" Thompson, died Thursday, August 13, 2009.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the West Chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born in Roane County, TN, he was the son of the late Isaac and Fay Clark Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Eugene Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and had worked as an Industrial Engineer with Martin Marietta Aerospace and Rohr Inc. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors in addition to his wife include five children: Valerie Thompson Cearley of Danielsville, Marcella Thompson Dysart of Marietta, David Evan Thompson of Roswell, Bradley Clark Thompson of Memphis, TN and Elizabeth Thompson Ray of Dallas, TX; nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 2131 Ruth Jackson Road, Bogart, GA 30622 .
