Ingrid Sobotta Moore, 85, of Athens, GA went on to be with the Lord our Savior on December 16, 2024. The daughter of the late Franz Joseph & Lydia Johanna Sobotta.
Ingrid grew up in Germany during and after World War II. While a nurse with the German Red Cross (Deutschen Roten Kreuz) in Kiel, she met and married late husband Charles Eliot Moore (Buffalo, NY) who was serving in the Air Force. Their first son (Michael D.) was born in 1965 and they moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where Charles retired from the military.
The family became members of The First Baptist Church in Blytheville. The family subsequently grew their family with Russell W, C. Brian, and Sonja L. The family moved to Bailey, Colorado and Stephen R. was born.
As a child, Ingrid learned how to handknit socks for her family. Her growing talents in knitting, crochet and sewing remained a joy for her throughout her life. She gained appreciation for health care, art, classical music, baking, cooking, crochet, gardening, Bible study, and singing in the church choir.
Ingrid struggled to adjust to her new way of life in the United States. However, she was dedicated to working hard in the medical field…she was always thinking of others and focused on raising her five children. As many struggling parents have done, Ingrid went back to school and worked to meet the needs of her family.
Ingrid is survived by her five children and has six grandchildren (Lauren B., John B., Emily W., Weston M., Easton M., Wyatt M.). She has two brothers and a sister, among other relatives still residing in her native Germany.
