Ingrid Amanda Kirk, 93, wife of the late Hoyt Clark Kirk, died on April 16, 2025.
Ingrid Amanda (Klopfer) Kirk was born in Rendsburg, Germany on August 18, 1931. Ingrid was the oldest daughter of Otto Klopfer and Elise Butenschon Klopfer. Growing up, Ingrid wanted to be a model or movie star.
Ingrid married Hoyt Clark Kirk on February 14, 1954. The two moved around the globe as Hoyt was in the military. Ingrid’s favorite home was Taipei, Taiwan. She later immigrated to the United States in 1957, proudly becoming a United States citizen shortly after.
Hoyt and Ingrid moved to Athens, GA around 1968 with their son, Dennis Haddon Kirk. Ingrid was a homemaker, seamstress, and devoted mother.
Ingrid loved animals, sowing, and talking on the phone with friends and family.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Wilhelm Klopfer and Elise Butenschon Klopfer, husband Hoyt Clark Kirk, and her sister Renate Wild.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law: Dennis Kirk (Denise); sister, Erika Laborius (Wolfgang); nieces and nephews and three grandchildren: Caroline, Katie, and her favorite, William.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11AM at Evergreen Memorial Park.
