Ina Carol Hamby Miller, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Edwards Chapel, 105 Timothy Pl, Athens, GA 30606. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall at Edwards Chapel.
Mrs. Miller was born in Athens, Georgia on November 4, 1946, daughter of the late Francis “Frank” N. Hamby and the late Louise M. Hamby. She was preceded in death by her late husband Claude R. Miller, Jr, and had lived in many places around the United States and Europe before settling back in Clarke County 22 years ago.
Ina was a devoted wife and mother, traveling the globe to support her husband, Claude. Meeting at University of Georgia in the mid 1960’s, Ina and Claude were married in 1966 at Edwards Chapel in Athens, Georgia. Ina and Claude lived a life full of travel and adventure. Wherever they were, Ina always made an impact, whether it was anonymously delivering meals to families in need or taking on small jobs to help out a friend.
Upon settling in Athens, Ina gained her realtors license, working for Century 21 and in more recent years working as an Associate Realtor for Coldwell Banker. Her favorite part of the job was attending the weekly sales meetings and building long lasting relationships with her clients, many of whom became cherished friends.
Ina’s faith in God, compassion and selflessness were felt by anyone she met. To say she never met a stranger would be an understatement. She treated everyone with love and respect. Her love was felt by so many.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda M. Weinbach and Uwe Weinbach and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kassidy Wicher who loved their “Oma” so much; son and daughter-in-law, Claude R. Miller, III and Jennifer Miller and two grandchildren, Austin Warren and Teagan Grubb; brother, Wayne Hamby; adopted brother, Frankie L. Hamby; sister-in law Velda Miller Schirhart and Eugene Schirhart of Augusta, Georgia; beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends that were family to her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edwards Chapel, 105 Timothy Pl, Athens, GA 30606 or to the Athens Humane Society.
