Imogene O'Kelley Wilbanks

Imogene O’Kelley Wilbanks died at the age of 88 on June 1, 2020 at her residence of 56 years in Bishop, GA.

Imogene was born November 7, 1931 at home in High Shoals, GA. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Floy O’Kelley and the sister of the late Helen O’Kelley Terrell Vandiver. She lived in Oconee County all of her life and was the widow to Donald Michael Wilbanks, to whom she was married for 55 years until his death in 2005. Imogene and Donald were high school sweethearts and married in Anderson, SC on August 2, 1950. Together, they raised 8 children and spent much time with their grandchildren. She retired from Classic City Beverages in 1986 and was a member of High Shoals Christian Church. Imogene was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Imogene is survived by 8 children, Mike Wilbanks (Jewel), Diane Hallman (Tommy), Harriet Elder, Donna Cundiff (Ron), Wanda Moon (Ronnie), Karen Roos (Fredi), Kim Ramsay (Carter), Ken Wilbanks; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, nieces, Terry Terrell Bennett (Edwin), Amanda Wilbanks and cousins.

Due to the pandemic, a private visitation will be held at Oconee Chapel in Watkinsville, GA on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at the Bishop Cemetery in Bishop, GA with Jeff Thomas officiating.

Pallbearers will be Thom Hallman, Danny Wilbanks, James Hale, Justin Adams, Jonathon Wilson, Caleb Self, Billy Elder and Daniel Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Flannagan, Buddy Shelnutt, G.W. Eades, Don Palsgaard and Elgin Scott.
