Imogene Smith, 86, of Carlton, passed away September 14, 2015. Born in Carlton on February 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Porterfield Rollins. Imogene was an active member of Carlton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She devoted many years to caring for her husband James until his death on January 1, 2001. In addition to her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Butler.
Survivors include one sister, Ann (Wally) Irby; one daughter, Linda (Harold) Gaulding; two granddaughters, Debra Gaulding and Donna (Neal) Jordan; and two great granddaughters, Bailee and Logan Jordan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Carlton Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Ivey and Rev. Kathy Brockman officiating. Interment will follow at Carlton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hampton House and Compassionate Care Hospice for the loving care given to their loved one over the last three and a half years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carlton Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choosing.
