Imogene (Smith) Fortson

Imogene Smith Fortson, age 84, passed away March 25, 2013. Born in Sanford Community, Imogene was a member of Colbert United Methodist Church. She spent her life taking care of her family as a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Fortson; parents, Early and Ellen Smith; granddaughter, Jodi Torres; great-granddaughter, Kaycee Phelps; and sister, Mary Helen
Reese.

Survivors include her children, George "Sonny" Fortson, Deborah (William) Rogers, Rhonda (Danny) Stewart, Tim (Alyce) Fortson, Jean (Paul) Simmons, and Sue (Rod) Jenkins; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Colbert United Methodist Church with the Revs. Hugh Hendrickson and James Haralson officiating. Interment will follow in Colbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM on Tuesday, March 26.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colbert UMC Building Fund.
