Hoyt W. Carney, 94, left his earthly life on July 21, 2013. He was born March 21, 1919 to the late Gordon and Etta Carney. He was born in Jackson County and later moved to Winterville, Ga. He married the love of his life, Lottrelle Whitehead Carney, on November 25, 1937. They were married for 73 years until her death on January 25, 2011. Hoyt was loved by all. He never had a bad word to say against anybody. He was such an excellent model of what a man was supposed to be. Everybody that knew him benefitted. Hoyt served in the Navy during WWII where he was stationed in Livermore, California. He could tell you Navy stories all day or he would sit and listen and offer you well thought out advise anytime. Hoyt was employed by Trussell Ford, Brack Rowe Chevrolet, and he also owned his own business, Carney's Body and Paint Shop. He was a Godly man and you knew that right off. The world is a better place with Hoyt Carney having been in it.
His survivors are Nancy Carney Robertson and her companion Don Searcy, Wiley Carney and his wife Phyllis Carney, Tracey Carney Taylor and Lamar Carney and his wife Ellen. He is survived by his grandchildren Daniel Lough and his wife Emily, Mary Kay Hall and her husband Jeff, Hollie Carney, David Carney and his wife Kim, Hoyt Bray and Claire Taylor. He is survived by his step grandchildren, Christina Smith, Cotter Smith and Samantha Smith. He also is survived by his great grandchildren Addison Lough, Hannah Lough, Jacob Hall and Caleb Carney. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Jean Maupin, for her ever loving kindness. She blessed him every single day. Special thanks to Silverleaf Hospice and all the love and care they gave him especially Steve Hancock, Tracy Wilfawn and Kristan Tenini. You will forever be remembered by his family.
