Elberton - Howard A. Johnson, 74, died January 4, 2009.
Mr. Johnson was a son of the late James B. and Mauzee Belk Johnson and was preceded in death by a son, Howard A. "Buddy" Johnson Jr. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Clarke County Corrections Department.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Revs. Dennis Raburn Campbell and G. Mark Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Johnson; two daughters, Tammy Hix of Winterville and Tina Stowe of Athens; son, Eddie B. Johnson of Commerce and Dale Johnson of Bogart; two stepsons, G. Mark Palmer of Colbert and Troy Palmer of Elberton; three sisters, Agnes Ramsey of Conyers, Carolyn Fort of Griffin and Frances Fortson of Danielsville; brother, Mike Bonds of Emerson; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Perpetual Care Fund of Arnoldsville Cemetery.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
