Winterville - Homer Wallace Hanley, age 74, husband of the late Margaret Spratling Hanley, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his residence.
Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Spurgeon C. and Edith E. Rice Hanley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray Hanley. He retired from International Paper after 25 years and was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Connie Yvonne Ezell, Pamela Denise Murphy, Vickie Jones; step children: Roy Terry Bailey, Jr., Rebecca Marie Young; brother: Larry Rice Hanley; sister: Janice Drake; fiancé: Judy Sloan; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2PM at Winterville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Akins and Palmer Rehberg officiating. Pallbearers will be Terrell and Stephen Bailey, Chase Peck, Jason and Todd Murphy and Jeremy Hanley. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Winterville First Baptist Church, 305 North Church Street, Winterville, GA 30683.
Visitation will be held tonight, December 20, 2008 from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
