Homer Oliver Hancock

Winterville, GA - Homer Oliver Hancock, age 90, passed away November 18, 2012. Mr. Hancock was a member of Winterville Baptist Church. He served his country with honor in the US Navy where he was an instructor on a destroyer. During an attack his ship was sunk.
Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas & Mary Jane Erwin Hancock; siblings, Willie J. Hancock, Estelle Sims, Pearl Hancock, Jack Hancock, Flora Chambers, Viola Aiken, Clifford Hancock, Bessie Hancock; niece, Peggy Henson.
Mr. Hancock was the last remaining member of his immediate family. Survivors include his grandson, Chris Hancock; nieces, Ann Madgeburger, Faye Chambers, Jan Hubert; nephew, Tommy Hancock; and caregivers, Bill Madden, Tina McCall Vickery, Shannette Gresham, Yonda Davenport, Gaybreal Appling, and Wendy Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Lord & Stephens, EAST chapel with the Rev. Nathan Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
