Hilda Hancock, 89, a resident of Timothy Woods died on December 24, 2012.
Born in Clarke County, where she resided most of her life, she was the daughter of the late John David and Stella Anderson Hancock. She was also predeceased by a brother, Horace David Hancock.
After graduating from Winterville High School, and the University of Georgia with a Home Economics degree, she completed a Masters of Education degree at UGA. She was a teacher for 41 years; retiring in the Clarke County School System and teaching the last 25 years at Winterville Elementary School.
She was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Agnes Hancock Dial of Walnut Grove, and nieces Judy Hancock Troup, Joyce Hancock Adams, Nancy Hancock Godlewski, and a nephew, Jon Dial.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Tuckston UMC Cemetery at 4175 Lexington Rd in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the Co-Workers Sunday School Class of Tuckston UMC, where she assisted teaching the class for many years
