Hilda Logan Lance Bowman died January 29, 2018.
Born February 17, 1938, she was the wife of John Dewey Lance for 41 years, William A. Bowman, Jr. for 11 years and daughter of Ferd and Lillie Logan. A graduate of Jefferson High School and Bob Jones University, Mrs. Lance was a teacher at Bishop, Statham, Holsenbeck and Athens Christian Elementary Schools. She also served as an administrative assistant for the Clerk of Superior Court in Athens-Clarke County, as well as, the Commissioner's Office in Oconee County.
Hilda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ferd and Lillie Logan, husband, Dewey Lance, brothers Millard Logan, Horace Logan and Hubert Logan; sisters, Alice Tate, Alwayne Wood, Annie White and Aldine Marden.
Survivors include her husband William A. Bowman, Jr., brother, Herbert Logan, children, David (Teresa) Lance, Debbie (Dan) Olson, Tim (Melissa) Lance, step-children, Steve Bowman, Linda (Harold) Lundy, grandchildren, Ashley (Chip) Gayden, Ansley (Zach) Rowland, Josh Olson, Leah Olson, Allie Lance, Benjamin Lance, Jude Lance, Joseph Lance, Chris (Katie) Lundy and Ashley (Michael) Silva, great grandchildren, Caroline Gayden and Malachi Silva and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Lance was a faithful servant as a Sunday School teacher and pianist/organist to the church at Mars Hill for many years. As Mrs. Bowman, she was a faithful servant as a Sunday School teacher and member of Laura O'Bryant and Sunshine Circles at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Oconee Lions Club.
A celebration of Hilda's life will be Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, West with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
