Athens - Heyward C. Strickland, 76, beloved husband of Claudia Strickland, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clarke County, he was the son of the late Leonard E. and Annie Goodrum Strickland. Heyward retired from Athens Clarke County Water Filter Plant and attended Christian Life Worship Center.
In addition to his wife, Heyward is survived by his children, Bronson Strickland of Starkville, Miss. and Sonya Strickland of Hull; siblings, Vonnie Callahan of Waycross, Ga., Euree Moon of Franklin Springs, Ga., Charles Strickland of Marietta, Ga., Stanley Strickland of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Sadie and Cia Strickland.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. John Ingham and Hugh Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Rodney Callahan, Lee Goodrum, John Wesley Goodrum, Frank Pearson, Vince Pearson and Eddie Witcher .
Memorials may be made to: Christian Life Worship Center or Athens Christian School.
