Winterville, GA - William Heyward Sloan, 77, died August 16, 2006.
A native of Harleyville, SC, he was a son of the late William Alex Sloan and Lelia Ann Heaton Sloan Scott and was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Kellum and Edna Parham, and a brother, Claude Sloan. He was retired from American General Life Insurance Company and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Sloan was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 3:00 PM at Winterville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Akins and Rev. Palmer Rehberg officiating. Interment will be in Winterville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Julia "Judy" Steed Sloan; four children, William David (Heather) Sloan, Lynn Hammock, Nita (Randy) Norris, and Timothy Heyward (Sheila) Sloan, all of Winterville; eight grandchildren, Russell Sloan, Ashley Hammock, Trent Hammock, Heather Sloan, Loran Sloan, Allie Sloan, Casey Sloan and Hunter Norris.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Nunn, Billy Colquitt, Trent Hammock, Russell Sloan, Randy Norris, and Dwight Eberhart.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Stephenson, Wayne Pilcher, Wallace Hanley and Dan Shealy.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
