Henry Carlton Smith

Henry "Coot" C. Smith, 88, of Athens, died Friday, August 26, 2016. Born May 21, 1928 in Stephens, GA, he was the son of the late George G. Smith and May Belle Hargrove Smith. Mr. Smith was the owner-manager of the Alps Road BP service station and owner of several real-estate properties in the Athens Area. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Syble Hancock Smith; sons: Steve Smith of Athens, Mark Smith of California; daughters: Julie Patrick of Watkinsville and Carla Fulghum of Athens; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister: Jean Moore of Stephens and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 1PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Brother Lance Palmer officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
