Arnoldsville, Georgia

Henry Jackson Norman, "Jack,"  passed away on May 10, 2024, at the age of 83 in Arnoldsville, Georgia. Born on October 5, 1940, to the late Willie Ralph Norman and Xavier Dudley Norman, Jack was a dedicated family man and a pillar of strength to his family as well as his community.

He was a devoted husband to his wife of 56 years, Lynda, and a loving father to his two children Jason and Amy and seven grandchildren. He found immense joy in spending time with his family and loved ones whether it was taking a drive in the North GA mountains, star gazing, cheering on the Bulldogs, or telling stories around a fire.

Jack's faith was the cornerstone of his life, evident in his lifelong commitment to Arnoldsville Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful servant and deacon for over six decades. His influence extended beyond the church walls, as he dedicated over 20 years to guiding and mentoring Boy Scouts and Youth group members as Scout Master, helping to mold them into strong, responsible, contributing citizens.

A pillar of the Arnoldsville community, Jack's impact was felt through his 30-year tenure on the Arnoldsville City Council, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the Arnoldsville Crepe Myrtle Festival in the mid 90’s. His service didn't end there; Jack served in the Army reserves for 8 years following high school and later retired from AT&T as an installer before spending nearly a decade working for the University of Georgia in the health center maintenance department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Trudy Jones (Tom) , Virginia O’Kelley (Frank). Survivors include his wife, Lynda Eberhart Norman; children, Jason Norman (Audrey), Amy Tolbert (Jonathan); grandchildren, Daniel Norman, Carter Norman, Jonah Tolbert (Stephanie), Blakely Tolbert (Charlie Charter), Jacob Tolbert, Lydia Tolbert, and Joy Tolbert; brother, Lee Norman (Claudette).
