Monroe - Henry "Hank" King, Sr., died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Abbey Hospice House in Social Circle.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 2PM at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors with Chaplin Larry Davidson officiating.
Born in Muskogee, OK, he was the son of the late John Benjamin and Mary Wicker King. Hank retired from the US Army after 22 years of serving his country. After being discharged he was a business owner in Seattle, Washington for 15 years and was currently working as a Detention Officer with the Oconee County Sheriffs Office. He received his BA in Liberal Studies from Regents College in 1985. His true passion in life was coaching baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Corky King of Monroe; son: Henry "Hank" John King, Jr. of Monroe; daughter: Mary Denise King of Tomahawk, Wisconsin; brothers: Scott King of Lilburn, Kevin King of Lilburn; sister: Denise King O'Conner of Lilburn; five grandchildren: Peter Walker, Mattilyn King, Avery Lee, Jesse Ryan King and Henry John King III.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Georgia Sheriffs Association, Youth Home, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
