Henrietta Whitworth Wade, 87, of Athens, died on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
An Athens native and preacher’s daughter, Henrietta was born to the late Troy Whitworth and Pearl Gunnells Whitworth. Henrietta worked for over 30 years at Westclox and then worked for the Salvation Army. She loved the Lord and her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Henrietta was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, and she was beloved by her community as a sweet, patient, and beautiful soul.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayburn Bryant and J.W. Wade; her brother, Samuel Compton Whitworth; two sons: Kenneth Bryant and Alex Ledford; grandson Shane Young and granddaughter Wendy Dawn Bryant.
Henrietta is survived by her daughters: Katrina Christian (Dennis) and Phyllis Thompson (Tim); sisters: Virginia Buchanan of Anderson, SC; Rachel Eubanks of Watkinsville; and Joann Dean of Watkinsville; grandchildren: Beth Gulley (Glenn); Travis Young; Adam Thompson (Ashley); Jamie Benson (Shawn); Brittney Bryant Smith (Jason) and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 20, at Green Acres Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. A private interment will follow the service for family only.
