Helen Novene Wilkes

Long time Athens business woman Helen Novene Wilkes died Saturday September 28, 2013. A native of Charleston, SC. Mrs. Wilkes was the daughter of the late Larry Lipton and Evelyn Davis Thomas. Mrs. Wilkes was the owner and operator of Wilkes Alterations. Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by a sister Gwen Thomas English. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, East. Rev. Patricia Saxon Mann will officiate. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery. Survivors include children; Melanie Davis (William Max) Teich, Laurie Ann (Charles Vincent) Gardner, Jodie Michelle (Jeremiah) Wilson, and Stephanie Lynn Wilkes; sister; Sylvia Elaine Patrick; brother; Larry Lipton Thomas Jr.; grandchildren; John Ashley Davis, Julie Ann Davis, Casey Leigh Davis, Charles Vincent Gardner Jr., Nicholas Samuel Gardner, Ricky Lee Dyer, Morgan Bailey Wilson, Macie Taylor Wilson; great-grandchild; Noah Cambell.
Grandsons and Son-in-laws will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Sunday at the funeral home. Lord and Stephens, East has charge of arrangements.
