Watkinsville - Helen Ruth Fields, 69, died July 18, 2009.
A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Fields moved in Mississippi, where she lived for many years before returning to this area in 2000. She was a daughter of the late James Hubert Ward and Kitty Gentry who died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ginger Renee Walker in 1980; and her uncle, William Short. She was employed for thirty years in Medical Administration and enjoyed collecting antiques.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Oconee Chapel with Chaplain David Gilleland, of Heartland Hospice, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, James Franklin Fields; two half nieces, Liz Keefe of Melrose, Fla., and Shirley Collins of Danielsville, Ga.; and three half nephews, Frank Ward of Livingston, La., Jimmy Ward of Walker, La., and Lee Ward of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 330 Research Drive, Ste. 130, Athens, GA 30605.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
