Athens - Helen Lewis, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006 after an extended illness.
Helen was born on July 4, 1923. A native of Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of the late Iva Mae and Edward Eugene Bishop. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
She is survived by her husband, G. Lamar Lewis; sons and daughters in law, F. Lamar and Becky Lewis and Gene and Tere Lewis; granddaughter, Miss Amy Lewis; grandsons, F. Lamar Lewis II, Ben Lewis, Joseph Lewis, all of Athens; sister, Mrs. Harold (Edwina) Lay of Athens and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, March 20, at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, with Dr. Jon Appleton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made First Baptist Church, 355 Pulaski Street, Athens, GA 30601.
Lord and Stephens, EAST is in charge of arrangements.
