Helen Mae Cooper Jones, 93, of Watkinsville, GA passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 6 at Oconee Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Emily Whiten officiating.
Mrs. Jones was born August 30, 1927 in Porum, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Cooper of Stigler, OK. Shortly after high school, she met and married William Frank Jones Sr. and moved to Georgia.
Mrs. Jones was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a self-taught seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family and friends. Mrs. Jones was employed with the Dekalb County School System for 10 years, and she enjoyed her employment with Rich’s for 15 years.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA for 45 years and upon moving to Watkinsville in 2005, she became a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Jones Sr.; three siblings: Gene Cooper, Wanda Weeks, and Dale Cooper; and nephew Michael Cooper.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Cobb-Sheldon (Tom) of Newark, DE; son William Frank Jones Jr. (Carey) of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter Sara Jones Donalson (Norwood) of Bogart, GA; six grandchildren: Kizzie Cobb-Given (Josh), Goodwin Cobb IV (Maria), Quay Cobb (Christina), Jill Jones Mulcay (Scott), Christine Donalson Edge (Bart), and Jason Donalson (Carolan); nine great-grandchildren: Noah, Zoe, Goodwin V, Eddie, Victoria Rose, Keira, Kylah, Ella, and Cullen; special nieces and nephews: LeRoy Cooper, Ben Cooper (Nancy), Nerea Cooper, Royce Cooper, Sherry Bunn (Jeff), and Beth Miller (Phillip); great-nephews: Ellis Bunn, Mason Bunn, and Adam Sexton; and longtime friend, Rosemary Ensley, along with many other special friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
