Mrs. Helen Juanita Hook Fields of Hull, Ga. passed away on September 15, 2009.
She was born April 11, 1923 in Lexington, SC. She was the daughter of the late Maxey M. Hook and Virginia Shumpert Hook Spires. Mrs. Fields was predeceased by a daughter, Gwendolyn, her husband, Rev. Jackson L. Fields, a sister, Margaret Hook Harwell and a brother, Grover C. Hook.
Mrs. Fields was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She and her husband, Rev. Jackson L. Fields, a Baptist minister, together served several churches in the NE Georgia area.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Steven Fields of Hull, GA; a daughter, Vickie Fields Horton and her husband Bill of Athens, GA; five grandchildren, Kathy Fields, Letitia (Kevin) Hardeman, Billy Horton, Marcia (Michael) Nelms and Jenni Horton; one great granddaughter, Melody Nelms.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 17th. The family will be at the home of Vickie and Bill Horton, 220 Idylwood Drive, Athens, GA.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 18th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton, GA, with Rev. Frank Granger of First Baptist Church, Athens, GA officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
