Hazel Boyette Orr, 91, of Athens and formerly of Savannah, passed away on October 20, 2022 in Athens.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Orr; daughter, Janey Orr Linton Welch; son-in-law, Bobby Linton and niece, Kelli Suzanne Linton.
The daughter of Hattie and Frank Boyette, she grew up in Tatnall County and moved to Savannah after her marriage to Jack. They were active in South Gardens Baptist Church for years, she worked with young girls and he with young boys. She became a member of Skidaway Island Baptist Church after moving to The Landings on Skidaway Island. She and Jack had a love of the outdoors and there are many happy memories of camping trips, fishing trips, cookouts and oyster roasts. After his death, she worked at Belk for 20 years before retiring. She was a loving Mom to her daughters and proud Nana to her grandchildren.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Jan (Patt) Brooks of Athens; grandchildren, Adam Brooks, Andrew (Ashley) Brooks of Athens, Katie Linton (Howard) Pinder of Philadelphia and Chip Welch of Savannah; great-grandchildren, twins, Drew and Perry Ann Brooks and Abel and Wells Pinder.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Manor Lake of Athens and Bristol Hospice for the care given and compassion shown during her time as a resident.
Burial will be private and a memorial planned in Savannah at a later date.
