Hazel (Lavender) Hardigree, 96, of 1681 Jerusalem Road, Watkinsville, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord on April 30, 2014. A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Linton Lavender and the late Bessie Mae (Sanders) Lavender. She was preceded in death by her husband - Jerry Durham Hardigree, and an infant son, Gerald Dudley Hardigree, and her three brothers, Clifford, Carl and Clarence Lavender.
Miss Hazel was a member of Antioch Christian Church where she was a one time Sunday School Teacher, and where she and her husband, Jerry, were one time youth advisors of C.Y.F. She was a homemaker, caregiver and an artist.
Survivors include, one daughter, Hazel June (Hardigree) Dooley, and son-in-law Allen Eugene Dooley, a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, one sister in law, Ruby Neal Lavender and first cousin, Marie (Sanders) Embry. She also leaves behind a caregivers, Carol Ann Giles and Jean and Geraldine Brown.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hardigree will be Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 4:00PM at Antioch Christian Church, with Pastor Scott Bartholomew officiating, and Dr. Franklin Shumake assisting. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be: The Friendship Sunday School Class of Antioch (early on). The family will receive friends Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Christian Church or to Silver Leaf Hospice.
