Athens - Hazel Dial Curtis, 90, lifelong resident of Athens, died peacefully at her home on April 9, 2007.
She was born October 17, 1916 in Clarke County, Ga., to the late Thomas Lafayette and Julia Ruth Shackleford Dial. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roy W. Curtis and daughter, Beckie Curtis Davis. Mrs. Curtis was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church and Sunset Garden Club. She was an avid gardener and bridge player.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Private interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curt Irby, John Davis, Jesse Bowles, IV, Tom Davis, Drew Irby and Bob Booth.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Julie Curtis Irby, of Elberton, Roycelynn Curtis Williams, of Tiger and Ruthie Curtis Hubbard, of Columbus; nephew, James V. Stephens, of Greenville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
