Watkinsville - Harvey L. Towe, 76, of Watkinsville, died June 7, 2009.
Born October 7, 1932, in Jefferson, Georgia, Mr. Towe was the son of the late James G. and Bertie L. Towe of Watkinsville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lydia Towe. Mr. Towe was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country during the Korean War Conflict from 1951-1954. Mr. Towe had lived in Oconee County for almost fifty years and was well known and loved in the community.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord & Stephens, East, with Rev. Hoyt Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Towe is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Jimmy) Green of Colbert; five sons, Harvey (Jean) Towe, Jr. of Athens, Dale (Joni) Towe of Watkinsville, Gary (Rhonda) Towe of Greensboro, Terry (Carrie) Towe and Jeffrey Towe, all of Watkinsville. Mr. Towe has nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren. In addition, Mr. Towe is also survived by two brothers: Bobby Towe of Arnoldsville and Harrison Towe of Crawford
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
