Athens - Harriett Irby Chambers, 82, wife of the late William Thomas Chambers, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at St. Maryís Hospice House.
Born in Halifax County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Acree Dunn Irby and Wirt Carrington Jordan Irby. A resident of Athens for 35 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her step children: William T. ìBillyî Chambers, Jr. and his wife Donna of Hartwell, Ga., Carol Louise Chambers of Savannah, Ga.; two step grandchildren: Katie Norris of Lavonia, Ga., Ben Norris of Canon, Ga.; two great great grandchildren; niece: Hope Irby Bagwell; great niece: Elizabeth Anderson and her husband George of Ashville, N.C.; eight great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 11:30AM with Rev. Robert Salamone officiating.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, c/o Mr. and Mrs. Chris Milner, Julienton Road, Townsend, GA 31331 or your local Humane Society.
