Harriet Hudson Varn

Harriet Hudson Varn, 98, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Athens, GA. She lived at Iris Place Assisted Living from 2002 until moving in with her daughter Harriet and son-in-law Wayne Mathews in 2013. Her health had been declining since having a stroke in June 2014. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted teacher of children, having taken one class from 1st grade through 7th grade. Georgia Women's College was her Alma Mater, and she was President of the Student Government.
She is survived by her two daughters and their families; Harriet V and Wayne Mathews; Leigh Segell, David and Linda Mathews, Tom and Eric Mathews; Kay V. and Ted Chaffin, Kathryn Chaffin, Maggie Motz, Steve Motz; and Elizabeth Chaffin.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 2PM at Riverside Cemetery in Macon.
Remembrances may be made to the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211. Please remember the living with flowers.
