Harriet Elizabeth Tribble

April 21, 1923 — July 4, 2021

Athens, GA

Harriet Elizabeth Tribble, 98 of Athens went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 4th. She was the daughter and last surviving child of Essie Buffington Walters and Elijah Joe Walters of Lavonia. Harriett, along with brothers Roy Walters, Elijah Walters and Levis Walters, and sisters Bertha King, Rila McJunkin, Sally Walters, Cecile Cram, Mary Jim Hollaway, and Tommie Oldham grew up and attended school in Lavonia, Georgia. Harriet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Maurice Tribble, and her son, Jimmy Maurice Tribble.

Harriett was an avid fisherman and in her spare time spent many hours enjoying the pursuit of her next trophy catch. Next to fishing, her greatest enjoyment was found in gardening or in her kitchen cooking, as she loved to share her lastest recipe with her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Hope Sunday School Class at Oconee Heights Baptist Church.

Graveside Services are Wednesday July 7, 2021 10:00am at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating.

She is survived by sons Billie Tribble of Nicholson, Bobby Tribble of Athens, and daughter Beth Marquez (Jack) of Jefferson. She was especially proud of her four grandchildren Adam Tribble (Meredith), Beth Ann Carson (Steve), Shannon Johns (Chris), and Mary Illston (Derek) and her thirteen great grandchildren, Ben and Georgia Tribble, Maggie, Molly Kate, Emma, Allie Carson, Libby, Anna, Parker, and Laney Johns, and Henry, Logan, and Caroline Illston.

A very special thank you to the nurses and staff of Jackson Oaks Senior Living (Jefferson) and Bridgeway Hospice, who provided such loving care over the last year.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
