Harriet Garrison McCurley

Harriet Garrison McCurley, 85, of Winterville, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023.

A lifelong resident of the Athens area, she was a daughter of Trenton Cleveland Garrison and Rosalie Lavender Garrison. Harriet was a member of The Red Hat Society and the VFW where she loved to dance. Harriet worked with Erwin, Epting, Birchmore and Nix for 43 years. She was also a longtime member of Winterville United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Harold McCurley and three siblings, Sherry Garrison Thomas, Gail Garrison Murray and Sonny Garrison.

Survivors include two sons, Mike McCurley (Tammy) and Edward McCurley (Allyson); six siblings, Sara Young, Jenny Irby, Delores White, David Garrison, John Garrison and Cindy Huff; four grandchildren, Lance, Erica, Emily and Kate McCurley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
