Harold Wallace Meyer, Sr., 84, died September 23, 2007.
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Charles and Ora Fleming Meyer and was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dolly Irene Stapp Meyer. Mr. Meyer was a longtime farmer, having been named Oglethorpe County Farm Family of the Year in 1970 through Soil and Water Conservation, and Farmer of the Year in 1974. He was a certified welder and member of Cherokee Corner Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Revs. Larry Davison and Tom Lang officiating. Interment will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Janice Bridges (Phil) of Winterville, Harold Wallace (Buddy) Meyer, Jr. (Nancy) of Arnoldsville and Anne Threlkeld (Greg) of Comer; brother, Howard Meyer of Winterville; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
