Harold E. Williams, Jr., 65, husband of Paula Butler Williams died Sunday, May 17, 2015. A native of Athens, he was the son of the late Harold E. "Rass" Williams and Rebie Morris Williams. Harold was a graduate of Athens High School and received a bachelors in accounting from UGA. He was a founder of Williams and Guined Accounting Firm in 1985 and worked there until 2013. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was also an Elder and Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher. Harold was always a musician at heart as well as professionally in his younger days. He was a founding member of favorite local groups the Jesters and DeBoize. He toured extensively as a member of the Greg Allman Band and Goose Creek Symphony and performed and recorded with countless others. He was an active supporter of the YWCO and music programs in Clarke county schools. Harold will be remembered dearly by all of those whose lives he touched as a bright beacon of compassion, generosity, fun and love. His charisma was inescapable. His earnest wisdom flowed constantly. His hand was always available to anyone in need. And of course, each of these qualities was permeated by his unique sense of humor. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother and friend. Survivors include his wife, Paula Butler Williams; son, Benjamin Williams of Atlanta; daughter, Molly Williams of Athens; sister, Flora "Smokey" (Bill) Evans of Athens, a number of nieces and nephews and his canine companions, Willie Harris, Nacho, Gus, Kudzu and Reza. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, May 20th at Lord & Stephens East Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21 at 11AM at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Revs. Mark Harper and Beecher Mathis officiating. A private burial for family members only will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
