Harold M. Barnhart, Jr., 85, of Watkinsville, passed away on March 10, 2025. Born on June 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Harold M. Barnhart, Sr. and Evelyn Teten Barnhart.
Harold retired as a professor at the University of Georgia in the Environmental Health Sciences Department (College of Public Health). He enjoyed many things including baseball, golfing, coaching and hiking. While he played baseball in his younger years, he spent most of his time in the sport coaching little league teams. He was an aeromodeller, building and flying model airplanes with the aviation club. His true passion in life was his beloved wife, Mary Barnhart whom he dedicated his life to.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Barnhart; sons, Steven Barnhart (Sharon), David Barnhart; grandchildren, Ethan, Samantha, Jacob and Alexis Barnhart; siblings, Ronald Barnhart (Rosemary), Sandra Schneider (Dennis), Rita Peterson; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
