Halbert Murphy Lowder Sr.

April 30, 1930 — December 19, 2018

Halbert Murphy Lowder, Sr., 88, husband of 59 years to Bernice G. Lowder, died December 19, 2018.

Born in Albemarle, NC, he was a son of the late Issac Arnolphus and Carrie Mae Almond Lowder and preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Lowder.  Mr. Lowder made his home in Watkinsville, GA since 1978.  He was a 50+ year Master Mason and member of the Lexington Memorial Lodge in Lexington, N.C.  Mr. Lowder retired as Contract Officer from Wilkins Industries.  He was a member of St. Stephens Anglican Church and attended Briarwood Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter, Deborah Kinnard (Eddie); son, Hal Lowder, Jr. (Kristie) of Whiteville, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Kinnard, Matthew Kinnard, Ashley Christiansen, Jonathan Lowder and Emma Lowder; great grandchildren, Layla Grier and Eva Christiansen; and his sister, Elsie Fisher of Albemarle, NC.

The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Sunday December 23, 2018 beginning at 1:00 PM. Services will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Rick Standard officiating. Pallbearers will be George Ellis, Richard Ashmore, Scott Berry, Paul Maxey, Lee O'Dillon, and Lopatin Slaymaker. Interment will be in his birthplace, Albemarle, NC.

Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Foundation of Georgia, 1690 Peachtree Street NW Atlanta, GA 30309.
